Kerstin von der Krone is a research fellow at the German Historical Institute Washington. Her fields of research include Jewish history in Central Europe in the modern era and the history of Jewish thought; she focuses in particular on communication practices related to education and scholarship and the transformation of knowledge and knowledge production.
Kerstin von der Krone studied Jewish Studies, Political Science, and Media and Communication Studies in Berlin and Tel Aviv. She holds a M.A. degree in Jewish Studies (Freie Universität Berlin, 2004) and doctoral degree in Religious Studies (University of Erfurt, 2010). She was a fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service (2001/2002), the Leo Baeck Fellowship Programm (2006/2007), the German National Academic Foundation (2006–2009), the FAZIT Foundation (2009/2010) and a guest scholar at the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture at Leipzig University (2009).
Between January 2014 and December 2015 she has been a research fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research in Braunschweig as part of the first funding period of the German-Israeli Research Project „Innovation through tradition? Approaching Cultural Transformation through educational media”. Before that, she was the program administrator of the research network Law in Context and its post-doctoral program Rechtskulturen: Confrontations beyond Comparison at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (2012–2013).
