ARSP Volunteers

Since 2002, the Leo Baeck Institute (LBI) London has partnered with Action Reconciliation Service for Peace (ARSP) to offer a unique opportunity for young individuals to undertake an annual voluntary service at our institute. Each year, a selected volunteer works with LBI London, dedicating one day per week to support the Association of Jewish Refugees.

For over 50 years, ARSP has been committed to fostering reconciliation, promoting peace, and combating racism, discrimination, and social exclusion. These objectives are realised through its international peace service programme, which encourages volunteers to engage with diverse historical, cultural, and social perspectives. By working alongside partner organizations, participants gain valuable insights into different cultures and ways of thinking, while actively contributing to a more peaceful, just, and tolerant society.

Today, ARSP volunteers, who typically range in age from 19 to 25, are motivated by a commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Annually, approximately 180 volunteers participate in ARSP projects across 13 countries, engaging in a wide variety of educational, historical, political, and social initiatives.

The LBI’s volunteer is funded by the Leo Baeck Institute London itself, Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste e.V., the Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend and the Internationaler Jugendfreiwilligendienst.
