Applications for the 2027 Leo Baeck Institute Year Book Essay Prize in German-Jewish Studies are closing soon on 28 February 2026, so eligible candidates are encouraged to apply now.
The Leo Baeck Institute for the Study of the History and Culture of German-speaking Jewry invites essays on any topic relating to German-speaking Central European Jewry, with a clear focus on the German-Jewish dimension and context. The prize was established to stimulate new research and support early-career scholars in the field.
The winner will receive publication of the winning essay in the Leo Baeck Institute Year Book, a cash prize of £500, and a free year’s print and online subscription to the Year Book. The competition is open to recent PhDs and Postdocs who received their PhD no more than five years ago, as well as final-year PhD students who can provide a supporting letter from their supervisor.
