It was a pleasure to welcome guests from Austria’s cultural and diplomatic community to the Leo Baeck Institute London this week.

We were delighted to host Katharina Kastner, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum London, along with Library, Science, Education & Dance Project Manager Hannah Kaip and Nina Tschofen-Almirall from the Austrian Embassy London, for a warm and productive visit at the end of September.

Our conversation covered a range of upcoming projects and shared areas of interest, from the cultural and intellectual ties between Austria and the Jewish diaspora to future opportunities for collaboration between our institutions. It was a valuable chance to connect with colleagues working at the intersection of culture, education, and diplomacy, and to explore how we might build on this connection in the months ahead.

“It was a real pleasure to host colleagues from the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Austrian Embassy here at LBI London,” said Dr Alice Riegler, Development Manager at LBI London. “Austria’s cultural and intellectual history is so closely bound up with the story of Jewish life and thought, and conversations like this one remind us how much scope there still is to build on that shared heritage together. We’re already looking forward to seeing where these discussions lead.”

We look forward to continuing the conversation and to welcoming our Austrian colleagues back to LBI London again soon.
