About the role

Leo Baeck Institute London is seeking an experienced Librarian & Archivist to take responsibility for the development, organisation and accessibility of its specialist library and archival collections.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a librarian or archivist with an interest in German-Jewish history. The successful candidate will have responsibility for new acquisitions, including published material and private and family papers, while also undertaking a major programme of work on the Institute’s own historical records.

A central priority of the role will be to catalogue the Institute’s Hausarchiv, comprising more than 70 years of institutional records. The project will involve assessing, arranging and describing the material and developing appropriate finding aids to enable researchers to discover and make use of this important historical resource.

The postholder will also contribute to the ongoing development, preservation and accessibility of the Institute’s library and archival collections, support researchers, liaise with donors and partner institutions, and advise colleagues on matters relating to collection management.
